What Is Document Intelligence? A Plain Guide to Asking Your Client Folders Questions

It is the last week of the quarter. A partner leans over and asks, "What was the closing balance in Sharma Traders' March statement?" You know the statement is in their folder, along with forty other files. You open them one by one.
If you have wondered what is Document Intelligence, this is the plain version. It is the next part of Reposha, and its job is to end that kind of search. This guide explains what it does, what it never does, and how to get your firm ready.
- Document Intelligence lets you ask one client's folder a plain question and see the answer with the page it came from.
- It reads only that client's documents, says "not found" instead of guessing, and never files or sends anything on its own.
- You always check the source page and make the decision. It saves the hunt, not your judgement.
- It is coming to Reposha. You can join the notify list on the Document Intelligence page.
What is Document Intelligence in plain words?
Document Intelligence lets you put a question to a client's folder and get an answer with a link to the page it came from. You type "What is the closing balance in March?" and you see the figure, the file name and the page.
It does not replace your documents. They stay exactly where they are, in the same private folder. It simply reads them for you, so you do not have to open each one to find a single line.
Think of a very fast junior who has read every paper in the folder and always shows you where they found the answer. You still decide what to do with it.
The four jobs it is meant to do
The Document Intelligence page describes four jobs, all built around saving time on routine searching.
- Ask the folder. Ask a question such as a client's date of birth. The answer links to the page it came from.
- Sort files on arrival. Each upload is tagged by type, such as PAN, Form 16, bank statement or GST return.
- Spot what is missing. Compare the folder with the checklist you set, and get a ready reminder to send.
- Export a profile. Pull PAN, date of birth, GSTIN, address and bank accounts into a spreadsheet.
None of these jobs makes a decision. Each one saves a search, a sort or a copy-paste. A firm with many clients spends real time on exactly these tasks, and none of that time needs a professional's training.
What does Document Intelligence never do?
Trust matters more than speed, so the limits matter more than the features. These four rules are fixed.
- Only that client's folder. It never uses general knowledge and never reaches into another client's papers.
- Every answer shows its source. You see the file name and the page, one click away.
- "Not found" beats a guess. If the answer is not in the folder, it says so.
- You verify and decide. It never files, submits or sends anything on its own.
These rules protect you as much as your clients. A figure with its page beside it can be checked in seconds. An answer with no source cannot be trusted, and a professional should never sign on one.
How it keeps documents private
Client documents are among the most sensitive papers a firm holds. So the privacy design comes first, not last.
On the Document Intelligence page we state the position plainly. It runs on our own servers in India. Your documents are not sent to outside companies and are never used to train any model. Every question is logged like any other access, so it appears in the same activity record as an opened file.
That last point matters. If a team member asks a client's folder a question, the owner can see who asked and when. We explain why that record matters in who opened that file.
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 asks organisations to protect personal data they hold. You can read the Act on the MeitY website.
What to do now, before it arrives
Document Intelligence builds on a tidy, private vault. So the best preparation is simple habits that help you today as well.
- Collect in one place. Files that arrive on chat and email are hard to bring together later.
- Name each document when you ask for it, such as "Form 16" or "GST registration".
- Keep one folder per client and keep it current.
- Erase what you no longer need, so old clutter stays out of the way.

What we are not promising
We are still building. We give no launch date in this article, and the Document Intelligence page shows the latest plan. We also make no claim of fixed accuracy. Scans vary and documents differ, so you should always confirm a figure on its source page before you rely on it.
We are building with the people who will use it. If you join the notify list, we will write to you first, and we may ask one question: what do you wish you could ask your client documents?
Where Reposha fits
Reposha today is a secure client document service. Clients upload through a link with no account. Files are filed in one folder per client under the names you set. Staff see only the clients assigned to them, and every open and download is recorded. Document Intelligence is the next part, and it builds on that same private vault. It reads a client's folder to answer your question and always shows the page it used. It has no fixed launch date yet. You can join the notify list on the Document Intelligence page and hear about it first.
