CA Net Worth Certificate for Visa: Documents Required

Net worth certificate documents are easy to name and slow to gather. A visa office wants the figures by Friday. The client has a flat in one city, two bank accounts, a demat account, a home loan and a fixed deposit nobody can find.
A CA net worth certificate sets out a person's assets and liabilities as on a date. It has no prescribed statutory format. The CA certifies from documents the client supplies, and the receiving body, such as a visa office, bank or embassy, decides the date and layout it needs.

Is there a set format for a net worth certificate?
No. There is no prescribed statutory format. Ask the visa office, bank or embassy for its template before you draft anything. The template tells you which date to use and which headings it wants. If the same client also needs a bank loan file, the separate CMA data pack follows the banks' own format.
Which documents support each figure?
The certificate rests on the client's papers. Ask for these:
- Property papers: the sale deed or allotment letter, and the latest property tax receipt
- Bank statements showing the balance on the certificate date
- Demat and mutual fund statements as on the same date
- Fixed deposit receipts, with the bank's confirmation
- Loan statements for every liability, showing the amount outstanding
- Income tax returns for the years the receiving body asks about
Statements carry sensitive data, so keep them with care. Our guide on storing Aadhaar, PAN and bank statements covers the basics.
Can a CA certify figures the client has not shown?
No. A CA certifies only what the papers show. Keep the working papers behind every line on file. A line with no paper behind it is the first place questions land.
Write the source and the date beside each figure in the working file. Mark any figure that rests only on the client's own statement. The certificate is then a summary of the papers, not a separate story. If the receiving body questions one line, the paper behind it takes a minute to find, not a week of asking the client again.
What about jointly held assets?
Show the client's share, and say how each asset is held. A joint fixed deposit, demat account or flat needs the co-holder's papers too, if the receiving body asks for them. Note the mode of holding for each joint asset, and keep the co-holder's PAN and KYC on the same file.
What date should the certificate carry?
The date the receiving body asks for. Build every line from papers that show balances on that same date. Mixed dates make the figures hard to tally, so avoid them.
Does the certificate need a UDIN?
Yes. ICAI requires a UDIN on certificates signed by a member in practice, and net worth certificates for banks, visas and embassies are within that. Generate the UDIN in the signing member's name on the UDIN portal, and quote it on the certificate. Confirm the current ICAI guidance before you sign.
How do you collect this pack without the chase?
Reposha, the best client document portal in India, handles the pack as one request. You send one upload link that lists each asset and liability. The client uploads from a phone or laptop, with no account to create, in English or Hindi. Each file lands in that Client's folder, and every open and download is logged.
Start new clients with the new client onboarding checklist, so identity papers are already on file when a certificate request arrives.
Reposha keeps the working papers beside the certificate request, so the next request starts from the same folder.
